鄰苯二甲酸二甲酯DMP為無色透明油狀液體，稍有芳香味，沸點為283.7℃。能與乙醇等一般有機溶劑混溶，不溶于水和石油醚。鄰苯二甲酸二甲酯DMP可用作丁腈膠的增塑劑。絕緣漆、清漆制作中的溶劑。鄰苯二甲酸二甲酯還可用作驅蚊油、聚氟乙烯涂料、過氧化甲乙酮以及滴滴涕的溶劑。熒光棒（化學發光棒）制作中的溶劑。

鄰苯二甲酸二甲酯DMP包裝貯存：凈含量200公斤/鍍鋅桶。
